South African cricket legend Allan Donald is set to join our team as bowling coach, adding firepower to the backroom staff ahead of the SA20 2025 season.
Donald, 57, was an iconic figure for South Africa from 1992 to 2002, earning the nickname White Lightning for his blistering pace.
The first South African to claim 300 Test wickets, Donald remains a cricket icon for the country, with standout performances in the 1992 and 1996 ODI World Cups. His international career spanned 72 Tests and 164 ODIs and he was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2019.
He joins an already impressive coaching setup led by head coach Lance Klusener, alongside Jonty Rhodes and Sridharan Sriram.
Donald’s extensive coaching experience, which includes stints with New Zealand, South Africa and IPL teams like Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Pune Warriors India makes him an invaluable addition.
With Donald in our ranks, the team will be eyeing its first title in 2025 after narrowly missing out on the SA20 title after a stellar runner-up finish this year.
The SA20 2025 begins on January 9 but our boys will set Kingsmead alight a day later when we face Pretoria Capitals on January 10.
