Durban’s Super Giants have signed England all-rounder Chris Woakes to bolster their squad for the third season of SA20, South Africa’s premier domestic T20 competition.

Woakes, a seasoned T20 veteran, made his debut in the shorter format with Warwickshire in 2008 and has since played 162 matches globally. His impressive record includes 172 wickets at an average of 25.19 and a strike rate of 18.40.

Additionally, the 35-year-old has proven his mettle with the bat, scoring 1021 runs, including two fifties, at an average of 21.27 and a strike rate just under 130.

He has also showcased his talents in the IPL, representing Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He has also played over 50 Test matches for England.

Woakes joins fellow Englishman Reece Topley, who has been part of our team since its inception, and follows pre-auction signings Brandon King and Kane Williamson into the squad.

As we aim to improve on our second-place finish at SA20 Season 2, Woakes' addition will add a lot of experience and versatility to the squad.

The third season of SA20 will start on January 9 and conclude on February 8. We extend a warm welcome to Chris Woakes and look forward to an exciting season ahead together.
