Durban’s Super Giants have added West Indies batter Brandon King to their roster for the upcoming SA20 season.
The 29-year-old King is a vastly experienced batter and has played close to 150 T20s in his career so far. He has also represented the West Indies national team in 55 T20 Internationals.
King also featured for the Windies in the recently held T20 World Cup 2024. He scored 86 runs in five matches at a strike rate of 126.47 before suffering a side strain in the Super Eight clash against England, which ruled him out of the remainder of the competition.
West Indies, co-hosts of the T20 World Cup along with the USA, finished third in their Super Eight group and failed to advance to the semi-finals.
The right-hander has amassed 3329 T20 runs at an average of 27.51 and a strike rate of 133.31. He has hammered two centuries and 21 half-centuries.
For his national side, King has scored 1395 runs in 55 T20Is at an average of 29.06. He also boasts of a strike rate of 134.39 and has hit 10 half-centuries for West Indies in the shortest format.
King will become the latest in a rich line of elite Caribbean players to play for DSG.
Johnson Charles and Kyle Mayers, along with Jason Holder and Keemo Paul featured for DSG in the inaugural season of SA20. Mayers and Paul joined West Indies superstar Nicholas Pooran in the second season and helped DSG reach the final.
Here’s extending a warm welcome to Brandon King to the DSG family and we wish him a successful season ahead.
The third season of SA20, South Africa's premier domestic T20 tournament, will start on January 9, 2025, and end on February 8.
