Durban’s Super Giants will host Joburg Super Kings in their third match of the SA20 2025 at the Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban on Tuesday, January 14.
Under the leadership of Keshav Maharaj, the Super Giants will be eager to get back on the field after their previous game against Pretoria Capitals was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain.
Earlier, DSG began their SA20 2025 campaign with a nail-biting victory over Pretoria Capitals in their own backyard.
Kane Williamson’s unbeaten 60 off 40 balls along with contributions from Bryce Parsons (47), Wiaan Mulder (45 not out) and Matthew Breetzke (33) helped the Super Giants post 209/4 in their 20 overs after opting to bat first.
Defending 209, the hosts were off to a tough start as the Capitals’ openers Will Jacks (64) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (89) added 154 runs for the opening partnership.
However, the DSG bowlers bounced back with quick wickets as they reduced the Capitals to 195/6 in 18.4 overs.
Later, star pacer Naveen-ul-Haq held his nerves in the final over as he defended 14 runs to guide DSG to a thrilling two-run win in their campaign opener.
Afghanistan left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad was the standout performer with the ball for DSG as he finished with figures of 2/34 in his quota of four overs.
Fast bowler Chris Woakes also claimed two crucial wickets while captain Keshav Maharaj and Naveen-ul-Haq bagged one scalp each.
With six points from two games, DSG are currently placed second in the SA20 2025 standings. A win on Tuesday will take the Super Giants to the top of the standings.
