Durban’s Super Giants will be desperate to get back to winning ways when they host Paarl Royals in their seventh match of the SA20 2025 at the Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban on Thursday, January 23.
Under the leadership of Keshav Maharaj, the Super Giants will be aiming to bag maximum points in their final home game after their previous fixture against MI Cape Town was abandoned due to rain.
Opting to bowl first against MI Cape Town in Durban, DSG claimed an early wicket as right-arm pacerJunior Dala removed Ryan Rickelton in the fourth over.
Captain Maharaj later joined the party as he dismissed Reeza Hendricks before left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad got the better off Colin Ingram to reduce the visitors to 62/3. MI Cape Town added seven more runs to their tally before rain played spoilsport after 11 overs and the game was washed out.
After beating Pretoria Capitals in their SA20 2025 opener, things haven’t quite gone as per the plans.
The Super Giants’ second fixture against Pretoria Capitals was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain while they went down to Joburg Super Kings in their third game. DSG later succumbed to back-to-back defeats against the two-time defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
With one win, three losses while two matches ended with no results, the Super Giants are placed sixth in the SA20 2025 standings with six points from six matches.
On the other hand, the David Miller-led Paarl Royals have secured four victories and one defeat in the SA20 2025 so far. With 16 points from five games, the Royals are currently placed second in the SA20 2025 standings.
