Durban’s Super Giants will look to end their SA20 2025 campaign on a winning note when they face Joburg Super Kings in their final league match at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday, February 1. 

With their hopes of reaching the playoffs dashed, the Super Giants will be aiming to conclude the ongoing season on a high with a victory at the iconic Wanderers.

Under the leadership of Keshav Maharaj, DSG had a promising start with an impressive win over Pretoria Capitals in their SA20 2025 campaign opener. However, things haven’t gone as per plan for the Super Giants since then.

The Super Giants have accumulated six points from nine matches and are placed sixth in the SA20 2025 standings. 

Despite a challenging season, DSG have produced some noteworthy performances along the way.

Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has been the leading run-scorer for the Super Giants this season. The star batter has amassed 211 runs in seven matches at an average of 52.75, including two fifties to his name.

Wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock (143 runs) and Heinrich Klaasen (122 runs) have also made a few significant contributions with the bat.

In the bowling department, Noor Ahmad has been the wrecker-in-chief for DSG in the ongoing season. The Afghan left-arm wrist-spinner has already picked up 10 wickets in nine matches at an average of 20.30 and an economy of 7.00.

Captain Maharaj has bagged eight wickets while pacer Chris Woakes has five scalps in the T20 tournament.

On the other hand, the Faf du Plessis-led Joburg Super Kings have already qualified for the playoffs. With 19 points from nine games, the Super Kings are currently placed third in the SA20 2025 standings.

Durban’s Super Giants and Joburg Super Kings have faced each other on six occasions in SA20 history. The Super Giants have registered two victories while the Super Kings have secured four wins so far.

In their previous meeting at the Wanderers Stadium, the Keshav Maharaj-led side secured a 69-run victory in Qualifier 2 of SA20 2024.

Heinrich Klaasen (74) and Wiaan Mulder (50 not out) powered the Super Giants to 211/6 in their allotted overs after being put in to bat. Later, DSG bowled out JSK for 142 in 17.4 overs to register a commanding victory.
