Durban’s Super Giants will be desperate to register their second victory when they face MI Cape Town in their upcoming SA20 2025 fixture at the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town on Saturday, January 25.
After starting their SA20 2025 campaign with an impressive win over Pretoria Capitals, things haven’t gone as per plans for the Super Giants. The last season’s finalists have been winless in their last six games with four losses while two matches have been abandoned due to rain.
Led by their captain Keshav Maharaj, DSG will look to secure a much-needed victory against MI Cape Town on Saturday to remain in contention for the SA20 2025 playoffs.
With eight points from seven games, the Super Giants are currently placed sixth in the SA20 2025 standings, just two points behind fourth-placed Joburg Super Kings.
Meanwhile, DSG will head into the upcoming fixture after suffering a five-wicket defeat against Paarl Royals at the Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban on Thursday.
On the other hand, MI Cape Town are placed third in the SA20 2025 standings with 16 points from six matches. The Rashid Khan-led outfit have three wins, two defeats while one game has been washed out
For DSG, wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock has been the leading run-scorer this season, having amassed 138 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 122.12. The likes of Kane Williamson (110) and Wiaan Mulder (107) have also made some valuable contributions with the bat.
In the bowling department, young left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad has been the wrecker-in-chief for DSG with nine wickets in seven games at an average of 16.66 and an economy of 6.81. Captain Maharaj has bagged six wickets while pacer Chris Woakes has five scalps so far in the ongoing T20 tournament.
