Durban's Super Giants will lock horns with Pretoria Capitals in their second match of the SA20 2025 at the SuperSport Park in Centurion on Sunday, January 12.
Led by captain Keshav Maharaj, the Super Giants will head into the game brimming with confidence after they secured an impressive win over the Pretoria Capitals in a high-scoring thriller at the Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban on Friday.
Electing to bat first, DSG rode on Kane Williamson’s unbeaten 60 off 40 balls, along with contributions from Bryce Parsons (47), Wiaan Mulder (45 not out) and Matthew Breetzke (33) to post 209/4 in their 20 overs.
In reply, the Super Giants’ bowlers were off to a challenging start as the Capitals’ openers Will Jacks (64) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (89) forged a 154-run opening partnership. However, the DSG bowlers bounced back with crucial wickets as they reduced the Capitals to 195/6 in 18.4 overs.
With 14 required off the final over, star pacer Naveen-ul-Haq held his nerves as he bowled brilliantly to guide the Super Giants to a nail-biting two-run win in their season opener in Durban.
For DSG, young left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad was the wrecker-in-chief as he finished with figures of 2/34 in his quota of four overs.
Fast bowler Chris Woakes also bagged two crucial wickets while captain Keshav Maharaj and Naveen-ul-Haq took one scalp each.
Having kickstarted their SA20 2025 campaign with a pulsating win, Durban’s Super Giants will look to continue their winning momentum against the same opposition in Centurion.
