Keshav Maharaj and Quinton de Kock bagged top honours at the annual Cricket South Africa Awards 2024 on Thursday.
Our skipper Maharaj clinched the Men’s Players’ Player of the Year title while Quinton bagged the Men’s ODI Player of the Year award.
Despite an Achilles rupture that threatened his ODI World Cup participation, Maharaj made a stunning comeback at the ODI World Cup 2023. He picked up 15 wickets from 10 matches at a stellar economy of 4.15 runs per over.
Leading us to the SA20 2024 final earlier this year, Maharaj was in sensational form, bagging 15 wickets in 13 matches with an economy rate of 7.31.
Meanwhile, Quinton de Kock was unstoppable with the bat in the ODI World Cup 2023. He scored 594 runs, finishing as the third-highest run-scorer behind fellow legends Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He’s been a powerhouse for us in the SA20 as well, scoring 484 runs across two seasons at an average of 24.20.
Maharaj and de Kock were driving forces for South Africa in the ODI World Cup, where the team reached the semi-finals before falling to eventual champions Australia.
The CSA Awards 2024 celebrated these incredible feats for achievements between May 1, 2023, and April 30, 2024. Also shining at the event was Laura Wolvaardt, South Africa’s women’s cricket captain, who dazzled with five accolades, including the coveted Women’s Player of the Year title.
