Durban’s Super Giants will be looking to get back to winning ways when they lock horns with Sunrisers Eastern Cape in their fifth match of the SA20 2025 at the St George's Park in Gqeberha on Sunday, January 19.
Under the leadership of Keshav Maharaj, the Super Giants will aim to bounce back after they suffered a tough home defeat against the same opposition at the Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban on Friday.
Star spinner Noor Ahmad produced another magical spell to help the Super Giants restrict the two-time defending champions to 165/5 in their 20 overs.
The 20-year-old left-arm wrist-spinner dismissed David Bedingham, Zak Crawley, captain Aiden Markram and Jordan Hermann to finish with brilliant figures of 4/25 in his quota of four overs.
In reply, DSG openers Matthew Breetzke and Bryce Parsons provided a decent start before the hosts kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for 107 in 18.1 overs.
With one win, two losses while another match was washed out, the Super Giants are currently placed fifth in the SA20 2025 standings with six points on the board. On the other hand, the Sunrisers are languishing at the bottom of the six-team standings with five points from four games.
For DSG, wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock (91 runs), all-rounder Wiaan Mulder (76 runs), Bryce Parsons (70 runs) and Kane Williamson (63 runs) have been the standout performers with the bat.
In the bowling department, Noor Ahmad has bagged six wickets while fast bowler Chris Woakes has four scalps to his name. The likes of skipper Keshav Maharaj and pacer Naveen-ul-Haq have picked up three wickets each this season.
