The Durban’s Super Giants are excited to announce the signing of swashbuckling South African left-handed batter, Toni de Zorzi for the SA20 2024 season. He replaces pacer Kyle Abbott who has been ruled out due to injury. Widely regarded as the one of the best upcoming prospects in the Proteas setup, de Zorzi boasts of a stellar domestic record with over 3000 runs in First-Class and List A cricket each. The signing for DSG comes on the back of a breakthrough year that saw him make his Test and ODI debuts for the national team. Toni also made the headlines recently after scoring his maiden ODI hundred in a winning cause against the #1 ranked Indian side.
Known for his stylish batting technique, de Zorzi will add stability to the middle order occupied by explosive batters like Heinrich Klaasen and Nicholas Pooran. As he looks to make his SA20 debut, Toni will look to learn from the guidance of his Proteas teammates and veterans Keshav Maharaj and Quinton de Kock. Off the field, Toni is a social media sensation on account of his impeccable style and quirky Tik-Toks. We wish Toni all the best and can’t wait for him to join the squad before our first match vs MI Cape Town at Kingsmead on Jan 11.
